Dupe this Look: Jennifer Lopez

This picture of Jennifer Lopez has been circulating the makeup boards for years now. The beautiful green smokey eye served as my inspiration for a night out on the town with my girls. Jennifer's olive skin and brown eyes are really complimented by the earthy green tones. I started with dusting Nars Wicked eyeshadow all over my lid. Then, using my MAC 239, I patted on MAC's Sweet and Punchy on the lid and inner corner of my eyes. Then I blended MAC's Humid into the outer corners of my eyes, and topped it off with  MAC's Green Smoke right in the crease. I also blended a little bit of Humid underneath my lower lashline to really achieve a smokey look. I topped it off with a set of Miss Ardo's #20 false eyelashes and MAC's Blacktrack fluidline in a cat eye shape. Sticking to Jennifer's glowy look, I used Lorac's baked blush in Hollywood and kept my lips nude with MAC's Peachstock with Chantecaille's Charm lipgloss on top. Pictured below is my FOTD inspired by Jenny from the Block. What's your favorite way to rock green eyeshadow? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Weekend Haul: IMATS Edition

This Saturday was the long anticipated IMATS Los Angeles. This was my second year attending the International Makeup Artist Trade Show, so while I knew what I was in for I still was not expecting the show to be this crazy. It took us an a little over an hour to get in since the Online Presale Ticket pick up wrapped all the way around the Civic Auditorium (they really need a better system for this). Once inside, the wait times for both MAC and Makeup Forever exceeded an hour each! I wasn't too disappointed, as I was looking forward to seeing a lot of the other makeup companies there. My first stop was Crown brushes, where i picked up 4 brushes, a powder brush, a small eyeshadow crease brush, a large fluff brush and an angled eyeliner brush- all for just under $20. I made my way to Kevyn Aucoin where I picked up his famous lash curler for just $10 (retails regularly at $20) and Dolline cheek blush for just $10 ($37 at regular price). I was also able to pick up a Sugarpill palette and loose pigment both at 30% off and Chantecaille lipgloss in Charm at 20% off the regular price. Lastly, I bought a Confidential tapered face brush at 10% off retail, which was already pretty cheap. I was able to get a lot of bulk disposable products that I use on clients as well (I wont bore you with pictures of those). Overall, it was a very successful IMATS experience this year. Did anyone else attend IMATS Los Angeles? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

the Buzz on Chapped Lips

One big beauty DON'T this year is dry and peeling lips.  I've compiled a few pointers to keep your lips hydrated and fabulous. Protect your pucker from whatever Spring throws at you this season- the cold, the sun, the the wind- and keep them looking their best at all times.
  • Drink plenty of water. Dehydration is a huge factor in chapped lips so make sure you keep yourself hydrated.
  • Make sure you are not allergic to anything in your lipsticks. If you notice extra dryness after applying your favorite MAC lippie, find out what exactly is irritating your lips and toss it!
  • Avoid licking your lips. This does not- repeat does not!- moisturize your dry and chapped lips. It only just further irritates them.
  • Apply lip balms with bees wax, petroleum and/or SPF!
I've noticed that some glosses, especially Chanel glossimers and Chaneticalle,  often leave my lips feeling moisturized and soft but nothing cures a chapped lip better than my bedside best friend Burt's Bees lip balm.  Check out their latest addition to the Burt's Bees family, their new Tinted Lip Balm which offer up a range of shades from neutrals to berries. Pictured below are my moisturized and soft lips slathered with Burt's Bees tinted lip balm in Tiger Lily. What's your favorite remedy to chapped lips? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
