Spring Trend Alert: Fruit Punch Lip

Everywhere I look I see celebrities rocking gorgeous coral lips! The bright and springy colors reminds me of how my lips would stain after drinking a nice cold glass of fruit punch when I was a kid! These days, Ladies like Demi Lovato, Nicole Richie and Emily Blunt are adding such a fun kick of color to their looks. Even Jennifer Lopez has decided to ditch her signature nude for a bubbly coral pink. The fruit punch shades are easy to pull off for every skin tone, and can range from coral orange to flirty pinks. I have been a little bit obsessed with finding and collecting coral lipsticks for the upcoming spring season. If you are on the more fair side, try sticking to lighter peaches and pinks, like Emily Blunt. The lipstick makes a statement on its own, so feel free to either go simple with your eyes and cheeks or play around with color, like adding a dash of blue eyeliner. Pictured below are my three fruit punch lip go-to's. On the left is Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet in La Ravissante which is a coral red with a matte finish. In the middle is Chanel's Rouge Allure lipstick in Hyde Park- a limited edition shade that is exclusively on Chanel.com. This shade is stunning on the lips, in the tube, and the finish is creamy and glossy. Last but not least on the far right is Chanel's Rouge Coco Shine in Flirt, which is also a limited edition shade. It reminds me a little of MAC's Ever Hip and would flatter most skin tones. I love this formula, but I only get around 3 hours of weartime with it. Weekend Haul: Christmas Edition

Happy New Year Honey Bees! I've been a very bad blogger. My apologies on the late update (I haven't updated since LAST YEAR!), but it has been a very busy holiday season for me! I am hoping everyone in the blogosphere has had a very happy holiday! I happened to pick up a few amazing things over this holiday season, and I haven't even used all my gift cards yet! Dupe this Look: Nicole Richie

I loved this Mod 60's inspired look Nicole Richie rocked on the Oscar's red carpet in 2010. If anyone knows mod inspired style, it's Ms. Richie. The twist on this version of the smokey eye is the great little wing at the end. It really draws a nice line from your eyes to accentuate that sexy feline look. I started by separating my eyelids in half by drawing a black curved line with an angled brush and MAC's Carbon eyeshadow. Next, I patted the lower lid with Sugar Pill's Tako eyeshadow and blended it in an upwards sweeping motion. With my trusty MAC 266, I blended the Carbon line I drew with more black eyeshadow pulling upwards as well. A thick black  line of cream eyeliner is key to this look. I used MAC's Fluidline gel eyeliner in Blacktrack. Don't to wing it out at the end as well. The rest of my look is fairly simple, using Rock and Republic's Foreplay blush and MAC's Angel on my lips, topped off with Chanel's Insolence lipgloss on top. And of course, no Mod look is complete without a dramatic set of false eyelashes (mine are Miss Adoro #5- my current favorite!). Below is my Nicole Richie inspired look. Dupe this Look: Barbie

After buying that new Sugarpill palette at IMATS last weekend, I just had to do a Barbie look. The Sugarpill Sweetheart palette has the most amazing and most pigmented pink called Dollipop, which was an inspiration to dupe a look from the most fabulous Doll around. I started with a Stila paint pot in Kitten to prime my eye. Then filled the inner corner in with Tako, the white eyeshadow and patted on Midori (the green) on my lid. I packed Sugarpill's loose pigment shadow in Darling over Midori to really bring out the teal. I blended Dollipop in the crease and MAC's Blanc Type on the brow bone. I used 1 and half sets of false lashes- one set on my upper lashline and one cut in half for my lower lashline to really make my eyes doll-like. I dusted Rock & Republic's shocking pink blush in Kinky on my cheeks and finished off with MAC's Pink Nouveu and Chanel's Pink Pulsion on my lips. What do you dolls think? Did I do Barbie justice? Weddings by the Honey B: Bridal Shower Makeup

I love wedding season! And I'm not talking strictly about attending the ceremony; I am talking about the entire journey to the wedding. The events leading up to the wedding (like the bridal shower, the wild bachelorette party, the rehearsal dinner) are just as much as the wedding itself. For a bridal shower I attended this weekend, I wanted to create a look that was fun and colorful. The bridal shower was held at a lovely restaurant in Pasadena, so I went for a colorful, silvery smokey eye. I started with a dark base using my NYX jumbo pencil in Black. Using my 239, I patted on the silver pigment from my MAC Surf the Ocean pigments. I blended MAC's Carbon eyeshadow into the the outer v of my eye and Cranberry in the crease for an interesting pop of color.  I used MAC's Bamboo in the browbone and lined my eye with MAC's Blacktrack Fluidline. I blended in my MAC bronzing stick in Billionaire Bronze to contour my cheeks and topped it off with Rock & Republic's Seduce with MAC's MSF in Light Flush as a high lighter. To finish my look, I used MAC's All Mine lipstick and Chanel's Glossimer in Wild Rose for a rosey mauve lip. One set of Ardell Wispy lashes for a dramatic yet subtle look and I was ready to go! Dupe this Look: Khloe Kardashian

Is it just me or does everyone else think Khloe is the best Kardashian? The acid-tongue wifey of Lamar Odom is not only sassy and smart, but carries herself with a confidence we all only wish we had. As I am glued to this season of E! Network's tv show Khloe and Lamar, I was inspired to do a a sassy smokey eye look Khloe can approve of. The Kardashian sisters are masters of the smokey eye and nude lip, so of course this look wasn't a total stretch for me. I stuck to golds using my Urban Decay's Naked palette (Half Baked on the lid, Naked on the inner corner) and Urban Decay's Oil Slick blended with MAC's Satin Taupe in the crease to really smoke it out. To keep it playful (just like Khloe), I lined my lower lashline with Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter liner in Baked. One long and luscious strip of false lashes and my smokey eye is complete. I skipped the bronzer and used my current favorite blush, MAC's Raizin, a deep matte auburn. For my lip of the night, I used MAC's prolongwear lipcream in Till Tomorrow and Chanel Glossimer in Muscat. 

Buzzworthy: Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Sari Dore

The only thing more appealing to this Honey B than Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks is a Rouge Coco lipstick that is limited edition. Released with Chanel's Cote d'Azure Collection, Sari Dore is the perfect shade of coral orange for the summer. Along with MAC's gorgeous Ever Hip, Sari Dore is a unique and wearable coral, but instead of leaning pink like Ever Hip this pulls much more orange. For those of you honey bees looking to test out that hot summer trend of orange lips but are afraid of such a loud color, this is your orange. This would look really beautiful on warmer skin tones, but is not too warm for cool tones to rock as well. While the color is exceptionally pretty, the price tag isn't. Retailing at $32, Sari Dore is your typical Chanel story- pricey but worth it. I get a great weartime with this formula and it is neither drying or flakey. Bottom line? Warmer toned girls with some spare cash should grab this gorgeous limited edition lipstick before it leaves shelves!

Buzzworthy: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Chance

If you've been a loyal blog follower of mine, you may or may have noticed my addiction to Chanel lipsticks. I can't help myself, I am obsessed. I was like a kid in a candy store when Chanel launched it's new line of Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks, a light and moisturizing lipstick that finishes with the shine of a gloss. I picked up Boy in early February when it was released as a preview for the line (review here) and grabbed Evasion once the line hit the shelves (seen here). Chance is the latest addition to my Rouge Coco Shine family. The color is a soft baby pink that takes a few swipes to really turn opaque on my lips. If I had to compare it to something else, I would say it's Viva Glam Gaga's softer and more gentle sister. The pictures do the shine no justice as this lipstick really does not need a gloss. For a really perfect lip, I paired it with NARS Jilter Love lipliner. My only gripe about these lipsticks is that the wear time is quite short (I'd be lucky if I got a whole 3 hours without having to reapply) Below is my LOTD (lip of the day) using Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Chance as well as the swatches of my other two Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks, Boy and Evasion. Dupe this Look: Mila Kunis

As an up and coming rising star, Mila Kunis has been everywhere lately. Her cover of Cosmopolitain was downright inspirational! Her soft and smokey brown eye is a look that is perfect for a night on the town. The incomparable Nic Chapman of Pixiwoo has done a video on this look, so I decided to post my interpretation of this as well.  I obtained this look by using my trusty Urban Decay Naked palette (Virgin on the lid, Smog in the crease and Darkhorse in the outer V) and paired it with a thick winged eyeliner (MAC's Blacktrack fluidline) which I smudged on the bottom lashline as well (MAC's eye kohl in Feline). I kept the cheeks neutral with my go-to sexy blush Rock and Republic's Seduce and brushed MAC Refined Golden Bronze bronzer on my cheekbones. I got to whip out my new (and favorite) Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in Evasion which the perfect glossy pink. Finish with a set of false lashes. Now, if only I had those same sultry, killer hazel eyes!

the Buzz on Chapped Lips

One big beauty DON'T this year is dry and peeling lips.  I've compiled a few pointers to keep your lips hydrated and fabulous. Protect your pucker from whatever Spring throws at you this season- the cold, the sun, the the wind- and keep them looking their best at all times. 

• Drink plenty of water. Dehydration is a huge factor in chapped lips so make sure you keep yourself hydrated.
• Make sure you are not allergic to anything in your lipsticks. If you notice extra dryness after applying your favorite MAC lippie, find out what exactly is irritating your lips and toss it!
• Avoid licking your lips. This does not- repeat does not!- moisturize your dry and chapped lips. It only just further irritates them.
• Apply lip balms with bees wax, petroleum and/or SPF!

I've noticed that some glosses, especially Chanel glossimers and Chaneticalle,  often leave my lips feeling moisturized and soft but nothing cures a chapped lip better than my bedside best friend Burt's Bees lip balm.  Check out their latest addition to the Burt's Bees family, their new Tinted Lip Balm which offer up a range of shades from neutrals to berries. Spring Trend: Neon Eyeshadow

Dior Spring '11

Break out your brights, honey bees, because this spring neon eye shadows are making a stunning statement. As seen on runways like Dior's spring collection, the neon eyes come in all shades of shocking- including bright green, yellow and my personal favorite, neon blue. To do this trend justice, I broke out my Pop Beauty Lid Neon palette and used color number 5 on top of NYX jumbo pencil in Pacific. I patted on Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter in Air Guitar and finished off with black liner and falsies. To make this runway look more wearable, keep the rest of the look toned down with a nude blush (I used MAC's Garb) and a nude lip (Lancome's B-List covered in Chanel's Insouciance gloss). How to Take A Good License Photo

After losing my driver's license this last weekend, I enlisted a little help from the beauties over at Makeup Alley to compile a list of tips to get the best look in what is often your most unflattering photo (that you show ALL the time!). I guess I will know how well these tips worked out when I get my replacement! Here are a few tricks of the trade to get a glamorous-as-possible picture. 

• Avoid makeup with SPF. The unnatural light of the flash can wash you out.
• Stick to mattes! This goes for eyeshadow, blushes, and foundation. Anything shimmery will reflect light and make you look too shiny and no one wants to look like the Tin Man in their ID picture.
• Wear a pretty and soft lip color. Try to avoid anything too bold or too trendy to keep from looking clownish.
• Keep your brows natural and soft.
• Define your eyes, and maybe more than you normally would. It won't look cartoon-ish in the photo.
• Think of something funny when you smile- it will create a genuine grin on your face!

Pictured below is my FOTD for my date with the DMV. I kept it really simple, using a dark brown eyeshadow from my Smashbox artist palette and MAC eyeliner in Feline. I used a matte peachy blush (Rock and Republic's Bedroom) and swiped on Makeup Forever's lipstick 32 with Chanel's Star glossimer on top.

Buzzworthy: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Boy

While the new Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks don't come out until April 2011, our friends at Chanel were kind enough to deliver a special Valentine's day weekend gift in the limited early release of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Boy. Boy will be available from February 10-14 at select makeup counters and online at Chanel.com. The lipstick is famously named after Coco Chanel's former lover, Arthur "Boy" Capel and retails at $32 USD. This lovely lipstick is one part subtle nude, one part shiny pink, and all together romantic. What a perfect date lipstick! The formula is very moisturizing, leaving my lips the most comfortable they've ever been while wearing lipstick. The color is on the more sheer side in comparison to regular Rouge Coco lipsticks and the packaging is slightly skinnier. The wear time for this formula is not amazing, and rubs off easily. Bottom line? If you are willing to shell out the $32, this is a beautiful moisturizing lipstick. 

Buzzworthy: Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Genie

I'm in love with this formula of Chanel glosses! The Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss is Chanel Glossimer's more pigmented, less glittery sibling. While I've raved about Insolence, I have been drooling over peachy punk Genie for months and finally caved into temptation. The color looks quite orange in the tester but once smoothed over your lips, the creamy formula is sheer peach perfection. Never sticky or heavy, this milky gloss feels as good on the lips as it looks. I love this color, which I think would look great on all skin tones because of how sheer it goes on. It gives your lips just the right amount of a melon-pink tint that would pair nicely with blushes like Nars Orgasm, Mac Springsheen and Rock and Republic's Call Me. Bottom line? Wearable, chic, and flattering Genie is everything you expect from a Chanel lipgloss and more. Why can't I own this in every color?!

Buzzworthy: Chanel Glossimer in Star

I may be on the verge of being obsessed with these Chanel Glossimers. I have not met a gloss with better shine, consistency or color payoff than these and Chanel Glossimer in Star is a gloss worthy of its name. Sold as a part of Chanel's Soho Story, Star is a  slightly pink shimmery gloss with just a dash of glitter. The color is a nice subtle pink on lips and leans on the cooler side but would still look great on warm tones as well. The best part of this gloss is the high glamor shine that it packs onto your lips without it feeling gritty or heavy. Lips feel smooth with a shine so brilliant a disco ball would be jealous. The color is on the sheer side so don't expect a lot of pigmentation. What makes this gloss stand out is its incomparable shine. The pictures don't really do this gloss justice. I've seen a Soho Story displays in a few Bloomingdale's and a few Nordstroms but I have heard that this lip gloss is a little hard to come by. Try it on if you can find it, honey bees. Bottom line? This Star is a star!

Cold Nights, HOT Pink

Just because it's winter doesn't mean you can't be hot! A nice way to warm up these chilly winter nights is to break out the hot pinks! This is an attention-grabbing shade and when worn right, can bang out versatile looks from flirty to punk rock to all out glamorous! My favorite shade of lipstick to wear on nights out is hands down bright pink. And who doesn't feel just a tad more confident rocking a shade like this? The beginning of the holiday season happened to be a momentous time for me. On Friday, November 26, I turned a quarter century old! With 25 glamorous years and counting, I have been blessed many times over! But let's get to the beauty stuff, shall we? As a part of my present, my boyfriend picked up the Chanel Glossimer Duo I've been hinting at for months! The Chanel Holiday gift set came with a Chanel cosmetic case, a nude lipliner, sharpener, and two glossimers in Wild Rose and Muscat. Aside from this being an amazing steal of a deal, the lipgloss colors are unbeatable! One of Chanel's most popular lipglosses, Wild Rose is a perfect nude pink with slight shimmer. It is not tacky or sticky, and is it just me or does this make my lips look fuller? This warm pink is an amazing MLBB (my lips but better) shade and would highly recommend this for any lipgloss lover out there. Muscat is another nude glossimer that leans more nude than pink, unlike Wild Rose. Released as a part of Chanel's Beige Collection, this is another sophisticated lipgloss that looks beautiful on any skin tone. While this color does go on quite sheer alone, adding this on top of your favorite nude lipsticks would kick it up 100 glamorous notches (try Mac's Myth or Revlon's Soft Nude). Weekend Haul: Rock and Republic Blush, Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick and Glossimer

Am I a lucky girl or what?! This last friday, my boyfriend surprised me with two goodies from the Chanel Holiday 2010 collection! I happened to drop subtle hints about how crazy I was about the new Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in the limited edition shade Magnolia and he bought it for me the very next morning! The limited edition lipstick is a perfect shade of pink for all skintones because it doesn't lean too warm or too cool. The lipstick goes on so creamy and is a beautifully subtle shade of milky pink. For $30 a tube, this is not an inexpensive lipstick- but in my opinion you pay for the quality of the product and Chanel always delivers quality. I would purchase this lipstick again (better hurry if you want it, as it is limited edition) but probably only on a day where I've saved up some of my pennies! I'm pretty thankful that my boyfriend has such good taste in makeup because he picked out the Chanel Pink Pulsion Glossimer ($27) all by himself! This lipgloss, also limited edition, is a dazzling display of shimmer and PINK. As a glossimer, it does go on semi-sheer but the color is beautiful to wear on lips alone and can be used to glam up any lipstick. Paired with the Magnolia lipstick, Pink Pulsion is pure glamour!

I also placed an order for two more Rock and Republic blushes to add to my growing obsession collection! Seduce and Lust are the latest blushes to come in straight from the Rock and Republic website. The hockey-puck sized blushes are on SALE right now on RockandRepublic.com when you use the code RockCosmetics so hurry before the code expires! Both Seduce and Lust have shimmer and lean towards bronze-rose colors. I was wearing Seduce today and not only has it lasted all day but it gives the most gorgeous warm glow! I do swear by these blushes- the quality, size and uniqueness of the colors are really something I stand behind. While Call Me is a fan favorite, X Rated is definitely my personal favorite!
